EXPERIENCE

Meg holds an undergraduate degree in architectural history from Wesleyan University and a Masters of Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Her early training reflects a varied design background including airplane interiors for PanAm, stores for Ralph Lauren and large projects in the offices of I.M.Pei & Partners. After relocating to Connecticut, Meg worked for Centerbrook Architects for 14 years as an Associate and Project Manager. While there she led a diverse range of projects from urban design work in Virginia, to the renovation of Clark Hall at Wesleyan University, to the rebirth of the Ocean House in Watch Hill. Broadening her skill set, Meg then pivoted to a Construction Management firm working on large projects at Yale University.

In private practice, Meg brings a wealth of experience in design and management. She is a thoughtful problem solver, a good listener, keen on delivering exemplary service to her clients.

PRESS

“I am at heart a modernist because I live in the 21st century, but at the same time, I have a love for the history of architecture and believe in honoring what came before,” notes Lyons…

“The owners brought in Meg Lyons to re-imagine the structure. Chuck Royce, Ocean House’s owner, recommended Lyons…”

Renovating an icon: Future work will breathe new life into Westerly’s former Girl Scout House

Architect Meg Lyons reviews the existing Tower Street School building for the public.

Over years of careful observations, prodigious study and dedicated practice, I have developed a strong aesthetic based on integrated design. My tendency is to choose simplicity over complexity, austerity over embellishment, and elegance over design gymnastics. I seek solutions that are unique to their site, their program and their client’s needs. I believe that good architecture goes beyond an inspired vision, but must include a thorough exploration of technical issues, an innovative response to challenges and a careful balancing of budget concerns.
