FARMHOUSE RENOVATION
Historic Home with Modern Additions
STONINGTON, CT
The site for this project is an historic farm with an original 1750 farmhouse. The task was to remake some 1980’s additions, creating a flow between the rooms and connecting the historic interiors with modern additions. Renovations included a revised entry foyer, new kitchen, dining and family room, a sequestered office, renovated guest suite and updated bathrooms. Added windows flood the first floor space with light and open up to views of the surrounding landscape. Clean, modern materials were selected to compliment the richness of the original house. Outside, an exterior deck was constructed atop an existing dry-laid stone wall, extending the living space into the landscape.
